Talking about bets, I lost all mine again yesterday!

I had a few 1st scorer bets but my best were 3-1 and 3-2 England wins. I was willing Denmark to score in the last 10 minutes. Just bloody typical of my luck. 🙁

Seriously, you can't really say either team deserved a victory over the other; the Spanish might have had a touch more flair but they played very negatively for the last half and extra time.

The Spaniards go through but without the golden form they had in the group stage.

I'd prefer Belguim, but I still think we could beat Brazil with our solid defence and counter-attacks. If we do beat Brazil, I predict the World Cup is in the bag.

It's easy to overstate the Brazilian defence, of course. To listen to some people you would think that they cannot defend at all. Sven is being more cautious.

Brazil actually has good defenders. Certainly not as good as their attacking line-up, but good players.

The trick is the Brazilian mentality, of course, which is exceedingly offensive. We've already seen one of the main defenders up front scoring a spectacular goal. It's great stuff, of course, but their defenders thake these risks that can lead to them, say, conceding two goals to Costa Rica even though they totally outplayed them. Scoring five more than makes up for that, of course...

So if we play Brazil what I think we will be looking to do is try and furstrate some of their earlier chances and tease those defenders, anxious for glory, forwards, and then just play solidly and collect the goals. But we will also have to face that the Brazilian magic can be unbeatable sometimes; what we won't get is a clean sheet no matter how good we play. Um, probably. I mean, Brazil can always play crap like they did against France last time in the final, in which case they might not score a thing. But best not to rely on that.
