If you don't want your kid playing a game you don't think is appropriate for them...actually parent them and take the damn thing away.

There has not been done a single credible study that shows that it effects kids.
There have been studies done, but they've all had other factors that skewed the outcome - like giving kids that already have aggressive tendencies and that have lashed out at others in the past a GTA game. But since there were other factors having an effect then it is not reliable.
Correlation doesn't equal causation and all that.
