Aimless swords
It is world where the way of the fist and sword rule, populated by various creatures of modern day fantasy. Dragons of all types soar the skies and wander the earth. Elves stalk the forests, and various sea beasts swim in bodies of water large and small. It is a wonder world of magic and mysticism, and also of brutality and chaos. Cities made out of gold stands mere miles from those adorned with the blood and bones of their enemies. Tribes of barbaric beastmen roam the land, as more civilized races thrive in their cities and towns. War is frequent and fought with fist, blade, and chi; and seems that the smallest things set kingdoms and city states against one another. But none of that concerns you, for you have no access or contact with the world outside of your island. No visitors have ever come and the only people you see are those from the village, the martial arts school, and temple. You were born and raised there and have trained and lived in the school or temple learning all you can about the martial arts. Many don’t understand why they should learn if there is never any war or anything but do so because the elders tell them to. As far as you and many others are concerned most of the stories of an outside world are just that, stories. That all changes when a mysterious stranger appears on the island with no boat or any other indication of how they arrived. After a short while of investigation they deemed the stranger no threat to them and continued on with their daily lives. Shortly after that an artifact from the temple was stolen with the guards dead and the stranger vanished; this item had magical properties and not only was key to accessing the island but to a power too great for one person to possess. You and a group of your peers are sent through a gateway under the temple and into the outside world with only a name and a description to retrieve the item by any means necessary.
Since this is a martial arts fantasy rp, the martial arts obviously play a large role. There are three separate branches of combat in this rp, most characters are mixed between them but always have one more focused then the others. The branches are as followed
Hand to Hand: Besides the obvious that they focus in hand to hand fighting, their bodies have been pushed and trained to be nothing less then superhuman. The notably powerful ones can tear through trees with their fingers (what parts their fingers can get to at least), and crush stone to dust with their palms. Most faster, jump higher, exert themselves longer, and have tougher bodies then those who focused on weapon training.
Weaponry: still considered superhuman just less so then the hand to hand experts, since they sacrificed the training of their bodies for dexterity and the harder to master skill with weapons. The force and technique behind their blades cause them to slash through objects you’d think they couldn’t. They have long range and a clean shot from either a bladed or a blunt weapons could be a killing blow. The speed and power all depends on the weapon it self, but a draw back with all is they are easier to counter attack after a missed blow then a hand to hand attack.
Qi arts: this is essentially the magic of the world, although all fighters learn it those trained in the temple learn more of it then others. They tend to specialize in certain aspects some infuse it into their weapons, some to make their hits stronger while sacrificing speed, some the other way around. Some manipulate it to heal others, and other still have developed ways to project it from their body in the form of blasts. Legends have been told of people even using it to fly and run on air as if it were the ground.
