Ok, sorry to be a downer here, and none of this is total rejection, but I might have to raise the bar for ideas to be accepted. I am not convinced that these ideas really fit into the proper definition of a Hosted game; they have character classes and basic rules like "No god modding", but I get the idea they don't actually have much in the way of set direction or stories, and will instead be totally driven by the players rather than a Host... which makes them sophisticated Unhosted games, rather than true Hosted ones.
Perhaps it might be nice if people could answer the question- why does this game need a Host?
If I answered for my games, I would give two reasons:
1. I have actual game mechanics (rules) that need to be adminsitered by someone; that is me, the Host.
2. Someone with no 'stake' in the game world needs to control the non-player characters. The players DO have a stake- characters that they want to improve and can get killed. The only person who can play the game world non-player characters objectively is me, the Host.
3. Without me there would be no story. I am actually presenting stories for people to play through. Players shape plots, affect plots, but don't actually create plots. Only I, the Host, do that.
Not all Hosted games have to hit all of those criteria, but I suspect some of these ideas are hitting none of them.
Prove me wrong and I'll approve.
(k i can dig it)
It must be hosted because one of the classes in each army must be PMed to me for my approval. Also, I control when the opposing forces come into play, such as 'Dorrakullan's forces are coming to attack the human base' or something like that, and I am also going to be a general of one of the armies. I do not say which, because it might influence the other players. I must also say if it is okay for someone to do a certain thing that is not stated in the initial rules, such as taking a force to a different part of the battle. My character and 'hostmanship' controls where the army moves to and other things like that, such as overuling decisions or agreeing with them. If my army is to make one massive assault or just one little guerilla attack is my choice.
I hope this has influenced you enough.
The 4th Age needs hosting because I have a plot(s) that I want to use in the story to make it flow. The characers can do what they want within reason but I want the story to actually follow a basic plot, or it will just degenerate into a fighting RPG rather than with my set plot. Is that better, Ush?
I opened up a thread for a game.
Just awaiting your approval.
