That is possible, but even more possible is that the biblical characterization of God is completely metaphorical at best, and wrong at worse.

What confuses me is that its mostly christion religions codemning gays, yet their getting that from a couple of short passages in the old testiment.

The new testiment is supposed to be the more important one to christians and Jesus' teaching contradict the whole 'vengful god who hates gays and other sinners' thing. So WTF?

That's what I am saying, the God of the OT is a vengeful, badass mofo who doesn't take any shit from his subordinates. The God of the NT or Jesus loves us all and we only have to accept Jesus into out hearts blahblahblah and all will be forgiven. So basically, if you're gay, you're gay by your own choice and therefore will go to Hell by your own actions but keep in mind that Jesus still loves you while you wallow in eternal torture. Now doesn't that make you feel all tingly and special inside?

I think this portion would be a decent thread.

My take on it is that the NT is in no way more important than the OT. Jesus didn't contradict the OT, his statements are more strict as to behavior than the OT. The NT just delayed consequence for sin until after this life, while the OT had a more immediate consequence typically.

Also, the OT was written for the people of God, the NT is written to everyone. I believe that given their position, the punishments of the OT are/were fitting.
