General Kaliero
F = ma, beeyotches.
Well, today was an interesting day. I had to do all-day lawn work, and at about 10 AM I call Wal-mart to ask how they're handling the Wii launch at midnight. I'm told that there are already like 20 guys in line.
At freaking 10 AM.
Anyway, I call around to a couple other places, and they're either full with pre-orders, or not doing the midnight thing. So totally frazzled, I speed up my share of the lawn work to try and finish ASAP.
We finally finished around 2:00 PM, and I gather a bunch of junk together, chair, MP3 player, DS, games, drawing pad, food, and water. Got to Wal-mart, was told that there were 30 Wiis in the back room. Then I'm brought to the line.
I'm 29th.
With a sigh of relief, I set up my chair, and proceed... to wait.
10 hours. Thankfully, the people next to me had a laptop and DVDs, so we spent alot of the time watching Family Guy. It's strange, but spending 10 hours next to someone, you really get to feel like you know them.
Anyway, the camaraderie was great, and though I'd rather have not been forced to wait in a line for 10 hours, I really feel like it wasn't a bad experience at all.
Then midnight comes... and passes. It wasn't until about 12:10 that they actually started selling the systems. I got the Wii, a trio of extra controllers (with money from brothers and parents), Red Steel, and Excitetruck (needed a multiplayer game).
However, I couldn't get Zelda yet, because the EB staff had all punched out just before I got there. Dammit. I'll have it tomorrow morning, right after they open.
So I've spent some time setting the Wii up, as well as the wireless hookups, and a Mii, and Super Mario 64 just finished downloading. 😄
Now I'm smacking my pillow with my face, and not getting up until 9:30.
