Who do you all think will release the next video game system between Nintendo and Sony?

Nintendo.

Well, I'd say it's going to be at least another 5 years before we see another console made. The only other thing I can see happening is another handheld but I doubt that would happen.

As to which company would make a new one first, it's probably down to Microsoft or Nintendo, really. Sony's systems have always had long lifespans (the PS1 stopped production when it had been out nearly 12 years, the PS2 is about 8 years old).

But that's still going to be a looong way off.

Yes, they have referred to it being a ten year project.

It's damn tough to call though, because technically speaking (douvble meaning there...) the Wii is already outdated in the way that normally measures the lifespan of a console- and it doesn't care.

So at what point does the Wii actually need replacing? That's rather hard to tell.

I say in about 3 years or so.

But I wouldnt be surprised if MS announces a new console in 2 years. They did it with the XBOX.

Sony has at least 6 years for there PS3, before they start to make another one, however they could make a new PSP.

Well that's true. But with technology becoming better by the second Nintendo will no doubt make a far superior Wii (not graphic wise but terms of the motion controls) or developers will actually begin to understand how to develop games using the motion consoles without abusing them.

As for the handhelds, I don't remember where I read it but I read somewhere that Nintendo is planning to release something that goes into that little space next to the headphones that will increase the graphical capabilities of the DS.

When Nintendo makes the second Wii, hopefully they upgrade the graphics a tad...maybe even HD.

Thank You b/c sarcasm appears to be an unknown art.

I believe that Nintendo will be releasing their next Console before Sony.

Anata wa wakarimasu ka.....

Nintendo next.

Well of course they will make the graphics better than they are right now when they release another one... but why would they worry about that very much? They've just proved that it doesn't actually matter that much.

I rather suspect the graphics will be behind the competitors again, next time.

I assume its going to be behind the competitors, and I personally dont really care.

But they should have it in HD. If not, I dont know if I want to buy it.

Really?

Well, in five years, the Wii's graphics are going to be a tad bit dated, and if its a new system, Nintendo can probalby put it in HD for the same price as the Wii is now.

Graphics dont mean much to me but they are important when creating quality SP titles and in five years, if its not in HD, it's going to look like shit. In five years mind you.

I never bother with graphics that much, as long as I can see and play the game well, I like the fact that the graphics are not that great, it enhances the games and brings back nostalgia.

True, but if they are making a new Wii, I assume its going to be HD because thats the only logical step when increasing the graphics because if they dont, whats the point of having another Wii.

HD is the way to go.

The point, though, is that a graphics upgrade doesn;t really seem to be a good enough reason to make a new console.

Several people are saying Nintendo will announce a new console first. Well, they may, but why? What reasoning is being given here? What about it will require a new console?

I'd file that under your nonsense file if I were you.

I wonder, if they have any HD versions of next-gen console games.

Then would you care to explain what that slot is for?

That little plug next to the headphone jack? Um, that's also a headphone/headset plug.

Unless you mean the slot for GBA games...ermm
