No, the kid was mere bait. A minor who skips class and steals candy isn't exactly the 'flaw of society' that Jigsaw aims at.
Sure, the whole experience of it all should cause the kid to fear what may come of leading a vile life, so by that Jigs did (intentfully) educate him.
But after all, Jigs explained to Mason that if he would sit down, be cool and listen, he would see his son back unharmed. And he would have, if he wouldn't have freaked out, as the son was already quite safe (and very close) at the time of the coversation between Jig and Mason.

Good find lil nasty girl. It sounds like this game will involve a smaller number of players this time I guess. It'll be interesting to see how these two new characters are intertwined to previous characters in the past two movies.
