The passenger pigeon. In the 1800's, it was one of the most numerous birds in the world. Flocks were so large that they could be many miles long, numbering over one billion birds, and take many hours, sometimes even days, to pass.
However, by 1914, humans had hunted the passenger pigeon to extinction.
Good job, humankind. We went from billions, maybe even trillions, of birds, to none.
