well yes..the movie makes exactly no point except for transferring the book into pictures..now if you're looking for the author's motivation for writing this stuff down..was it to shock it's readers or entertain? i really can't tell and people are still arguing about it today...you have to think about a man's psyche that was incarcerated in cell for several years...left to rot in one of the nastiest prisons that ever existed (La Bastille)..i think only the Tower Of London was nastier..
