We have quite a few bands that got somewhere. Bettie Serveert were counted as one of the biggest bands in the indiewave from the late 80's and early 90's. Golden Earring, Jan Akkerman has been elected the best guitarist in the world a couple of times by Melody Maker in the 70's and 80's. Within Temptation are quite big but shit. But then so are BFMV. Urban Dance Squad basically invented rap-rock. Arjen Lucassen AKA Ayreon is quite famous in the metal/hardrock scene. There's probably a couple more. There's a decent chance of a Dutch band becoming big internationally though.
