'80s post-punk and alternative rock is great stuffI dunno what to think of when I think of general '80s rock. Bon Jovi? mmm Or is there better stuff than that that I'm not remembering?
Maybe some are hard rock but it's who I think of from the 80's.

When I think '80s the first bands that come to mind are the Pixies, Hüsker Dü, Meat Puppets, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, The Replacements, The Fall, The Police, The Cure, the Jesus & Mary Chain, Talking Heads, R.E.M., Nick Cave/The Birthday Party, Dinosaur Jr., plus loads of great death metal at the end of the decade from both the US and the UK, some of the best hip-hop of all time (and the genre's defining moments, really).
And other stuff but I can't think of it right now

I have to add talents like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Elton John, Billy Joel, Billy Idol.. Granted it's more pop it pop rock but still big in the 80's.. And earlier.
