Had the misfortune of watching the reboot. Terrible film in most regards. As is usually the case.

I just read the plot description on wikipedia. Kind of a cool concept – showing what happened to the Norwegian team that discovered it – but it didn't seem good enough for me to watch it.

There's a screening on the original in town tonight, with a live video Q&A with John Carpenter after, but all of my friends are shit bastards and I can't really be bothered just going on my own, so I'll probably just watch it on DVD and somehow delude myself into believing I'm there.

But yeah, the newer movie was interesting in terms of a bit more of a backstory on the Norwegians, but how can you hope to make something that will be good, whilst trying to replace Kurt Russell with Mary Elizabeth Winstead or whatever her name is?
