It's really not though. It's more in the same vein as Eye of the Tiger or Here I Go Again.

For some reason I've never heard an REO Speedwagon song. I only really know them because of that subtle Alan Patridge joke where it's sounds like he's describing R.E.M. but is actually talking about them.

Eye of the Tiger is a bit more pumped up than Don't Stop Believing though I think, it has more in common with Livin' On a Prayer or something really

I think More Than a Feeling is pretty good songwriting. I also like the fact that basically the whole song is one guy playing everything.

I guess, in the sense that it was sort of the first of its kind. There's probably going to be people saying Nickelback's How You Remind Me was pretty good songwriting in 30 years though.
