I don't particularly like Captain Marvel, nor have I yet gained a true appreciation of Brie Larsen,
I was shouted down online because “Brie Larson is an Oscar winner OMg”. Well, I was ambivalent, but figured, how bad could it be?
Pretty bad it turns out.
Larsen was pretty unlikable in interviews, and gave a flat, uninspiring performance.
Yeah, they (The MCU) dropped the ball on that bit of casting.
To be fair to Larsen, the character may not have been written with "amiability" in mind. It MIGHT be the case that she's doing incredible justice to the role.
For I can't think of many cases where Captain Marvel was particularly endearing in the comic books that are the presupposed source for the movie writers. Quite the opposite. She was a rather militarily minded professional who could be counted on to get the job done. Even when, perhaps especially when, the job itself were morally challenging and/or unpleasant. It surprised, but didn't over surprise me to see her become a life-taking executioner when fighting the Skrulls, for instance. Her thoughts tended toward lethal violence from the first time I saw her in a story; she'd need a rather hardened personality to successfully convince readers that she was capable of following up ...
Actually that might be why I like the Adam Hughes work. Hughes tends to be good at scrubbing the hard edges of his subject's personalities away leaving a viewer a good natured looking character people can naturally gravitate toward, because, again, they LOOK friendly. I imagine even villains probably have inherent appeal when he pens them. I might explore that. In fact, he might be a good addition to one of the artist and art studies I did years ago for another thread here on KMC ...

At any rate, back to thread-titled task at hand ...
Before I forget, part of the reason for the India stat a few posts ago was that I was marginally surprised to see one of the commenters on Katie Couric was from India, and also seemed to know something about Camille Burford, bka "Cammy Ford" of the popular "Food Wars" show from several years ago as well. Interesting to note how many people from other countries follow my own interests, regardless of their actual motives and/or stated reasons
I had a dream that some guys were making me steal some files from my office because I had their car in my garage for some reason, and we were going over the plan and I asked them for a gun and they gave me this little revolver that barely fit in my hand and I complained about that the whole drive over to the office, and then I woke up. Kind of a boring dumb dream.
