Anyone arm wrestling is at risk if they don't follow some precautions, male or female. One thing is to keep your shoulders relatively square to your opponent, which more than half of the people posting on YouTube DON'T seem to do.
That's something basic you can do at the casual level. Things change a bit at the pro level, and the guy in the vid above covers some of those things.
I seem to remember an excellent short safety video by a guy named Fischer; I'll see if I can't find that clip to post here.
