You expect the breaking down of your body, all the aches and pains because old people have told you about theirs, but what you don't anticipate and can't steel yourself for is the fading courage, not feeling safe about anything, this constant anxiousness like there's something wrong but you don't know what.
🙁

Another example, I used to race around town in my old Mustang, drove like the devil himself was hot on my ass, now I drive very carefully and at a sensible speed... because the nerve is no longer there... the need for speed is gone.

Racing is fun when you are with someone but same as you get older, everything in your body just hurts more

Most vivid memory I have of my speed addiction was tearing through town in the dead of winter hot on the tail of a car full of twerps that just rolled my buddy, so we went hell bent for leather through icy side streets at around 90-95mph like 1:30 in the morning, it was extremely pants-shittingly terrifying and afterwords I'd never have that level of ZeroF ucks ever again.

Yeah I'd be sitting my paints if I did that in the winter, the ice is unpredictable
