The Junior Woodchuck's Guidebook is featured in the Donald Duck comic book stories and both versions of DuckTales cartoons. As the title suggests, it is the guidebook used by the Junior Woodchucks and appears to contain information and advice on every possible subject. Huey, Dewey, and Louie frequently consult a volume of the set to get themselves and their uncles Donald Duck and Scrooge McDuck out of dangerous situations. It was first mentioned in The Secret of Atlantis by Carl Barks in 1954. Its history was later discussed in Guardians of the Lost Library by Don Rosa in 1993. According to Don Rosa, the Guidebook was written by the Guardians of the lost Library of Alexandria, compiling the essence of all the knowledge that was unique to the Library. It was later found by Cornelius Coot, who gave the book to his son Clinton Coot who, in turn, was inspired to found The Junior Woodchucks as a continuation of the Guardians of the Library. One story that is not by Don Rosa says that the Guidebook is updated by an unknown author.

Tobin's Spirit Guide by John Horace Tobin is a book that serves as a compilation of various supernatural occurrences, entities, and facts. The computer software version is hard to find and is very expensive. Ghost Busters Egon Spengler and Ray Stantz refer to it so frequently they may have entire sections memorized. Copies of the book have been shown to be available in hardback, paperback, and electronic media. Tobin's Spirit Guide often helps the Ghostbusters with identifying entities involved in the cases that they take on. Entries on cult leaders, cults, gods, demigods, and various entities, including Ivo Shandor, the Cult of Gozer, Gozer, Vinz Clortho and Zuul were recorded in Tobin's Spirit Guide by J.H. Tobin. Ivo Shandor's entry mentioned bizarre rituals being conducted on roofs in New York after the Cult of Gozer was founded in 1920. Gozer the Gozerian's entry included mention and illustrations of Zuul and Vinz Clortho. One passage in the Gozer section was, "The Sumerians believed in a land of the dead. A dark and shadowy realm within the bowls of the earth. The souls of the dead are ruled by a mighty god Gozer and protected by a powerful Gatekeeper and Keymaster. In order for Gozer to rise up and walk the human plane again, Gatekeeper and Keymaster must assume the form of beasts."

It is the most powerful and coveted Book of Shadows in existence and is over 300 years old. The Book has been passed down every generation ever since it was created by Melinda Warren in the 17th century. Besides information about the craft, the Book contains many entries on several beings from the magical community, including demons, warlocks, and other evil beings. It also contains many spells and potion recipes, most of which were written by Penny Halliwell. book was started by Melinda Warren, the progenitor of the Warren/Halliwell line of witches, and is dated with the year "1693" written on its cover page. This actually creates a small continuity error within the series, as Melinda is known to have died in 1692; however it is possible that she created the book, and her daughter Prudence started adding to it after her death.
