This would be an interesting battle.
Both use aggressive forms with a focus on offense. Neither have shown much in terms of actual defense. Maul despite his offensive prowess was driven back by an older Master and a Padawan while Anakin/Vader ( in the movies ) hasn't ever really been on the defensive end of the battle.
Basically it's a question of who sets the tempo of the fight first.
Vader would probably be the one to do that. Interesting topic though..

In the TPM novel, he's described not as "being forced back" but as manipulating the direction of the fight in to a more enclosed space where he could separate the two. Maul was controlling that fight up until his arrogance got the better of him.

Well that would make sense. But Kenobi did manage to outduel him after Qui-Gon went down..
Well Vader has already defeated Maul once. Resurrection, and I quote "Resurrection was selected as one of Star Wars Insider 83's 20 Most Memorable Moments of the Expanded Universe, with Leland Chee confirming its canonicity on his blog."

But the thread title says ROTS Vader not suited the one.

Padawan Obi-Wan was a match for Maul and ROTS Anakin was a match for a Master Obi-Wan. Anakin wins.
Bullshit!!! Obi-Wan was no match for Maul in TPM. Yes, he defeated him. But that doesn't always indicate superior ability or prowess. Think of a "punchers chance" in boxing.

Anakin beat Dooku...
Correction. Anakin "beat" Dooku. Yes he killed him. But the actual defeat has an asterisk..
I'd love to see Ray Park standing there with Nick Gillard annoyed while Hayden trips over his feet and a battalion of 12 year old girls cry for him. Fk'n Lucas man...
