I still don't follow. Why is this out of his league to do? Peter is brilliant. Not Reed Richards, but who is? He's still a brilliant genius. There's no reason why he couldn't come up with a fool-proof plan to defeat Hulk, even if it means killing him.

Peter hasn't done any experiments on gamma radiation and has no backround in that type of science

I doubt he is going to somehow figure out how to kill Hulk in his head without any experience in studying Hulk's powers

It's the second time Peter tells MJ he can take out the Hulk if he wanted to. Is Marvel trying to tell us something for when Hulk gets back ?

Personally, I have a hard time believing Spider-Man can beat the Hulk just like that. With prep and a stupid Hulk, yes, but still...
