"All that is history that is... yet to be enshrined," says the Osokan.
You doubt having a Senator with you would help, to be honest.
-
Yup, Lyle, Osokans.
"Soon you see..."
The door opens and the heat inside hits you like a blast furnace.
-
Coll, you have landed in a clearing full of TE Fighters at rest, a dozen each on mobile landing platforms.
A nervous official points you towards the perimiter, where a dark figure stands tall, looking into the jungle.
"But history has to be understood in order to be written. Don`t you analyze it? Or perhaps your kind is unable to learn on its mistakes? Do you wander if soon there could be nothing here for you to guard? The question for me is: whether your civilization deserves to exist at all in its current state?" -Commisar speaks in a very cold voice.
( I am trying here to establish Esgabath more as a villain here. If I have troubles with being trully efficient at least he should a bit scary.)
Coll nods.
"After the attack by the wildlife on the landing site, it was reported to me that air cover would have been extremely favorable to the situation, in regards to reducing the number of men lost. I would very much like to march into Lanzar City with our soldiers intact, so I wish to push for an increase in air cover, since we currently have none."
There are many large crates around here, Lyle. One of these crates is opened, and there are lots of smaller boxes inside.
These boxes have hinged lids, and actually look more complex than mere boxes. The Osokan hefts one over to you; it is warm to the touuch and has a number of flashing lights and controls.
---
Did you think at the time that air cover would have been useful, General?

I do appreciate the menace behind it, Melkor, but this is just entirely the wrong environment for you this story (unless you are bullying Senatorial admin staff). It seems almost entirely imnpossible to intimidate Osokans, and you suspect that many of them are too stupid to understand the consequences, and those who do understand them- like Drakkon- seem minded to accept them anyway. Bloody planet. Better off extinct.
"It will live or die with Drakkon," he says. "Do as you will."
Gahh, he's one of Drakkon's guys, Melkor. You heavily suspect he only recently got this job, and that Drakkon might have appreicated the benefit of having someone loyal in chrage of maintaining history.
