Ha, I really like your politics Ush....
👿

Still, Trebeis is not about to allow the chance of his Career going down the toilet again...

"Captain, I have received Cargo logs from all Captains. The Teams shall be prioritising the Ships with perishable Cargo. This is the best you can hope for."

Oh, and now Commisar contacts Rylis/Arvus.

"How is your task proceeding? Have you made any useful observations regarding Drakkon`s defences? And any track of the Rebels? It is likely that they are still engaging in illegal activities. And please consult with Sareitha before doing something risky. She has my full authority."

Ush, if operation to seize Drakkon doesn`t go well, can I blame it on Atar?

"Please understand, Commissar, that I would prefer to not speak about what we're doing when there's so many people around us." Rylis replies. "We are working at getting what we need."

Okay, bug is planted...too bad we can't get one near Drakkon's chambers without being seen. Damn Osokans.

Any ideas of what we should check out next, Arvus? May as well take advantage of the fact that we're in the Hall.

"Good, because failure is not an option. I will stay in touch."

"May as well take advantage of the fact that we're in the Hall" -this sentence is worth Commisar`s special award.

Basically, Commisar is going to arrange it so both of you and likely Lyle participate in seizing Drakkon alongside Atar`s men( I assume that Travis would lead them). So you really want to gain as much information as possible, since you will most likely end death if it doesn`t go well. Lyle stealing Guild`s Hall map from Records could help greatly. Though of course the potential deaths of your characters wouldn`t bother Commisar that much if he gets what he wants, so feel free to sacrifice yourself for Imperial money.

And also feel free to despise Esgabath, though I believe he is still better to have as a direct boss than Vader. 😈

And I am just trying to learn something in regards to role-playing evilness from Ushgarak himself....

Okidokey then, Trebeis. You find your workload decreases very shortly after, as soon s it becomes clear you aren't taking bribes. Ships start to go towards Victorious instead.

This actually shuts down a potential plot for Deviator's crew to start raking in a load of personal possessions. It greatly increases Nidar's power as the only remaining Captain competing for the cash cow that is the blockade, so he gets the lot.

Incidentally, it was 100% risk free. You are in total control; that's what Imperial power is about.

So the behaviour of Trebeis is not typical of major Imperial figure?

Idiot...

Why idiot?

Was aimed at my genius of a brother, aka the Captain who just turned down a lot of money 😛

I'll put it this way- the Captain who would have done it best is Jarek. He's been doing this sort of thing for a long time.

Captains in the Colonial era the Imperial Navy is based upon made themselves the equivalent of millionaires having such discretion and total power, and if it were not for the fact that ship captures made them the equivalent of billionaires, it would have been all they had to live on, because their pay sure as hell didn't cover anything.

Nidar knows the Emperor doesn't give a damn how much he makes on the side so long as he does what he was sent out to do. And wealth means power.

There will be times when your personal resources will be of note. After all, if you took the Haven background, you probably had it in mind that the good times won't be forever.

He is your brother?! Though isn`t it optimistic that there are still righteous individuals in New Order?

Somehow I never pictured Vader or Tarkin taking petty bribes.

Vader probably not because that sort of thing meant little to him.

But Tarkin was a fundamental lynchpin of a fundamentally corrupt system. His personal fortune would have been ridiculous.

If you want to play it by the book then by all means. But I should remind you that the Empire is not a good guy organisation, and the benefit you will get for doing things the right way like that is zero. Especially in comparison to the others,

This is weird, since I pictured Jarek as dutiful soldier who always follows rules....

Yeah. He was very careful to make sure you thought that.

This is getting interesting, because so far I have only pictured Esgabath as only concerned with achieving political power..... but being wealthy is a good thing. And I mentioned his pretty luxurious lifestyle, how much does Emperor pay me?

Do you think I play my character as expected from average Commisar?

Yup, Barbarossa's my brother.

And I had actually expected him to go for the bribe, really...

You don`t have much faith in the lawful ways of your family, Lana...

Oh, you don't need to worry about that, Melkor, because Nidar is entrusting a personal political donation to the Commissariat in your hands, to administer as you like (i.e. keep to yourself).

Because you are due your cut, of course. It's your blockade. And now you know that Nidar can make you rich this way in future.

Your pay is... ok. You make more by flexing your political muscles than you ever do officially.
As to how you play him- just fine!

It's not quite that simple.

Trebeis Has had experience in such things. And had in mind, the idea that perhaps such a response would lessen his own workload.

Wheels within wheels....

So it seems Nidar does not wish to go against me at this point, good.... but I still cannot trust him if matters go wrong.

Yes, i think I will take most for myself, though I will leave something for my allies in Commisariat.... and perhaps a share for my Aide? I want her to be fully loyal.... she could destroy me quite easily as she is prone to all my plans. I assume we are both mostly evil people, so there is propably strong attachment rather than "love" between us.... but I want to trust her enough so my character can relax with her. It is really tiring when you can expect most of your associates to be scheming against you, like it seems to be prevalent among Empire high circles.
