USH'S ORIGINAL TRILOGY GAME EPISODE I 'LANZAR'- Imperial Thread

"Indeed?" -Commisar seems to be taken aback by this. -" By peace, you mean the fact that Drakkon has signed some worthless papers with you, and agreed to the terms he will abandom after you leave? His Majesty tried to bring peace to Lanzar for a long time, and you suceed so easily?

With all due respect Senator, I have serious doubts about your claims. Perhaps you could tell me more about your negotiations and the results? Will the murder of Matadan remain unpunished?"

"I have in place full guarantees of Senatorial observations of the process of stablisiging power for the next five years. Military intervention would, of course, only become necessary should the terms of that observation be breached.

"The negotiations have brought to an end all fighting on Lanzar. Fresh elections, fully observed and adjudicated by the Senate, have been promised, in order to cement Drakkon's legitimacy as leader. A full investigation into Matadan's election has shown that his ascension was rigged by unscrupulous Lodge Masters, and hence under the laws of the Empire, he was not the legitimate ruler of this planet. I do, of course, resent your implication that Matadan has been murdered; there is no such proof for any such thing and hence that is outside any purview you or I hold. He disappeared during an uprising which, as the illegal leader of a world that resented his forcible seizure of power, he provoked.

"I am extremely delighted with the actions and peerless maturity with which my fellow Senators and my team have conducted themselves, and in ebing able to devote the time to this problem, where unfortunately his Imperial Majesty was not, we have indeed managed to bring a resolution to this thorny issue after so much time. But I must say, Commissar, more than anything else, I deeply resent your use of the term 'worthless' to refer to official adjudicated documents of the Imperial Senate."

"Stormtroopers of the Empire!" General Coll shouts to his men. "We have arrived at Lanzar! We are currently en route to place ourselves in orbit over Lanzar City, where the battle awaits you! Of course, we have to wait for orders, but that should not matter! You should be focused! Energetic! Ready to kill for your powerful Emperor, in the name of vast grandeur that is the Galactic Empire! Be prepared, ready yourselves!"

General Coll looks to Commanders Janthis and Jaiden.

"Prepare everything. Everything."

General Coll will now head to the bridge.

Janthis gives General Coll a firm crisp salute, "SIR"
Turning to the troops he begins the process of getting everything ready.

"Well, I am impressed that those savage people agreed to abandom the violence so easily, Senator. I wonder if there is any quarantee that Lodge Masters will trully accept those terms and Drakkon`s authority? And I was under impression that Drakkon is criminal who destabilized the peace sanctioned by the Imperial Order. His Majesty himself supported Matadan`s ascension, do you question the judgement of a man who is the embodiement of the Empire in far greater way than any Senator?

Osokans have a history of constant violence, their entire culture is based on it. Even for the Jedi, regarded as demigods in the Old Republic, it took 2 years to pacify this planet, and they lacked neither wisdom nor power. Yet they were unable to change the civilization of Osokans and their barbaric ways. Can those savage people have any respect for your wisdom or for the authority of the Senate? I assume those are first real free elections in the history of Lanzar? If so, I quarantee you that it shall end in violence and bloodshed. You are more experienced and older than I am, surely you can see that only military might can enforce the lasting and stable peace. The old ways you are devoted to couldn`t stop the collapse of the old Republic- only the creation of the Grand Army by Emperor saved us from anarchy and the dictate of corporations." -Melkor makes a dramatic pause, staring into Andron`s holographic image:

If everything went so well, surely Drakkon will agree to the presence of Imperial peacekeeping force that will ensure that the agreement is enforced? And the agreement itself, I would like its text to be sent to me immediately."

"I am not responsible for any impressions you may be under, Commissar. All I can do is simply tell you that Drakkon is a legitimate leader of his world, and that legitimacy is being confirmed again soon in a new round of elections- elections which continue a process of democracy that has existed on Lanzar for millennia.

"I am sure the Emperor will feel as betrayed as any of us that the being he thought would bring peace to Lanzar turned out to be an oppressive dictator who rigged the democratic process. Such is the way of the Galaxy. Luckily my... 'old ways' seem to have not run into any such problems.

"Meanwhile, it is conditional in the agreement that no Imperial forces will be on Lanzar once the observational process begins. This was an important clause to prevent a repeat of what happened on Droben.

"The agreement is not yet in fixed form, I am afraid, because the final details of the elctions will not be finished for a few days. I will get my staff to draw you up a copy of the negotiaitons so far, though I am afraid they are extremely busy and this may take some time."

"But surely you can summarize this agreement for me, Senator, as well as update me on the current political situation. Remember that I am here as a representant of Emperor himself, and surely we want HIM to be informed as quickly and accurately as possible."

"The summary is easy, Commissar. The fightinbg has stopped, elections will be held, and there will be trials for any exposed acts of war crimes during the recent times of trouble. The Hunting Guilds will agree not to operate off-world. With these points being observed, Lanzar expects to be left to continue as a sovereign system.

"The Senate will inform the Emperor in due course."

"So you claim there is no infighting currenltly on Lanzar and the situation is stable?"

OOC: I am a bit lost, since it all seems quite reasonable. My character is not sure whether it is wise to make cosltly military intervention if situation is currently under control. Who cares about those savages anyway? But Emperor would be pissed off if there was no military action, even if something is done concerning the data Emperor wants removed?

Yes, he would be peeved. Typical bloody Andran, if he's not bluffing then he's brokered a peace deal where none was ever meant to be possible.

You are right, it DOES seem reasonable, and that leaves you in a serious fix, seeing as the Emperor gave you three days to take them out.

Clock starts now, btw.

"Absolutely, Commissar. I am certain that you share in our joy."

He's a problem. He's always been a problem. You've not tangled with him before, but your friend from the Senate seemed pretty certain that this guy was a force to be reckoned with. You are not sure you even understand how he caused your friend so much trouble.

OOC: I think it were five days, not three.

"I wonder if other Senators share your surprising optimism. Could I speak with one of your colleaques so I can have a broader view on the situation? I find it amazing how politicians can perceive exactly the same situation in totally diffrent ways."

Oh yeah, I changed it. Fair enough, five then.

"I am sure time could be made for that, Commissar, but such diplomatic conversations would not be approriate over a communications link."

"Well, the costs of communication wil be beared by the Imperial Fleet. And I quarantee the privacy of our conversations."

"I think it would be more approriate in person," says Andran. "Besides... this Lanzar communication technology is less guaranteed to be secure."

"Well, I have a Security expert as my Aide. And it seems you were perfectly willing to talk with me, until I wanted to speak with other members of the Mission. I wonder about the accuracy of this pretty general information you provide me with. I would hate to think you are hiding something, or someone, Senator." Esgabath smiles maliciously as he seems to regain his confidence.

"While I am aware that your ego corresponds directly to your apparently amazing diplomatic abilities, I am sure that your companions can think and speak for themselves, as every Senator of the Empire. Could you inform Senator.... (Melkor gives one of the 2 names of the other Senators) that I would like to speak with him?"

Can the Deviator be seen from the surface by Arvus?

And when will we be able to tell the rest of the group what we found and such?

Well, Lana, I assumed 8 hours was enough time for one of you to make a report, and Ush didn`t deny my assumption.

Well, Arvus and Rylis could have been doing something else in those eight hours...

If Coll can stand and watch Esgabath while he talks with the Senator, he will.

Oh, the ground team can be egenrally aware that the task force has arrived.

Esgabath is on the Victorious by default unless he says otherwise.

"Your security expert is no expert in Osokan technology. Do not make unfounded accusations at my, Commissar. If you visit here, you do so at my sufferance, which I will quickly withdraw if I think you are going to antagonise my mission.

"You can arrange appointments- in person. I will not perform such business over a communications link with a militaryvessel."

HOUR 1

Competitive timing has started. be aware that any point in which you guys are not doing something, the Rebels may be. The game will not stop, and that will just be wasted hours for you.
