I personally think that USM is a genius reboot and recreation of the Spidey universe and its characters. There is absolutly no reason to say something like "Ruined everything Stan Lee and Ditko strived for." As the writters of the Ultimate-verse have consiously kept both Ultimate and 616 universes seperate. They're in no way trying to replace 616. And in fact, the two conflict in no way.
Also, there isn't much reason to be so close minded. Don't hate something simply because it isn't the same as the original. In the context of the Ultimate Spidey story, both Venom and Carnage were well handled well and were acceptable for that universe. I'd agree wholeheartedly had they tried to replace the 616 version of Venom with the Ultimate-verse version, but they're not.

Yeah, because both the Ultimate and 616 version of Venom is cool.
The Ultimate-verse has its place. The stories were well written and meant to connect with new/younger readers that could not get into 616 because it is too convoluted (I doubt anyone would argue with the convoluted part). Personally, I think the Ultimate Venom made more sense than the random symbiote-laden meteor of the movie. But y'know to each his own. I prefer the original (and the original origin), but if it is well written Venom, it shouldn't matter where its from. Especially in light of the many poorly written Venom comics (and gazillion crossovers) from 616. Those mar the Venom legacy the most.

Because Eddie is venom, he was the best.
And as spider-man put it, a loser that looks like venom, is still a loser.
They are all listed here with scans of the covers. Each is the "Super Special" for the respective comic.
They are always expensive but don't cost this much but it was the only place where you could see all at once.
