I am not sure how that works but in the previous pic to the one shown, you see Death staring at Thanos. She arrives right before his heart is ripped out.

I don't think Thanos is dead in the first place but I've heard Thanos has long since had Death's ban removed from him.

Indeed! It had to be done. I'm a huge Thanos mark, but I have no problems with the way this was done. Maybe this will shut people's whining the **** up about Thanos not losing enough, (even though it wasn't a fight...though it was a thorough pwning). I feel good for Drax, too...finally realizing his life's goal, and bringing some sense of closure to him.

I'm sure Death will realize the peril that the universe is now placed in without Thanos' existence, (since only he can free Galactus), and resurrect him. That'll be kickass. Unless of course they call upon the powers of GS and summon the mighty PHOENIX FORCE!!1 to save the day. rolleyes1

In conclusion, excellent issue. The best one yet!

Kronos is way below Death in the cosmic ladder, yet he somehow overide her rule.. Does not make since or maybe Death wanted Thanos back for some greater purposed..

Just because it hasn't occured on panel doesn't mean Death hasn't taken away Thanos' ban from her realm, given that they have been on ok terms recently it would make sense she would accept him again. She was willing to accept a clone in Avengers: Celestial Quest, and has told the real thing she loves him in his own mini, the ban will have just been forgotten about.

No...Starlin only created those clones because Thanos was WRITTEN badly (ie. on a 'conquering the universe' binge, when that wasn't his character's m.o. since the early 90's) and other gross mischaracterizations...not because he lost in those stories...which is the popular belief by people just ignorant of Thanos.

This Thanos is written VERY well...so there's no reason to insert a clone, as it would just cheapen 'Annihilation'. He'll probably be resurrected by Death, once she realizes that Thanos is the only one who can free Galactus.

Not to mention Starlin doesn't work for Marvel anymore, and will likely never return.

This was indeed the best written Thanos in a long time - he was much better character than back in the day when he was just a two-dimensional nihilist. His mysterious motives are what make him interesting. He'll be back

I doubt it will be a clone. Like has been said already the only reason Starlin retconned those other appearances into clones is because they were out of character and ignored years of character development, the one in She-Hulk I'm sure they decided from the start would be a clone and that wasn't a retcon in any way. The editor for Annihilation has said this is the real Thanos, I don't see any reason to doubt it.

Definitely.

I was a LOT happier to see Drax kill Thanos this way than to watch Thanos Job like a mother ****er.

This way, Thanos was a LOT more worried about preventing the destruction of the entire universe than he was about fighting Drax.

"Give me a damned minute" or something along those lines. 🙂.

I do agree that this is better than jobbing. Obviously Thanos wasn't keeping his eye on Drax so we can all agree (or speculate) that Thanos is still stronger than Drax.

I think theres more to this though. I remember reading a interview with the writer and he stated that we would hear the reason of Thanos behind all of this or something like that. I dont think this is the end of the Mad Titan.

I hope Drax dies!
