What are you guys arguing about? It's all pretty straight forward.Goliath took the fight out of him, and when he was helpless, the Wrecking Crew beat his ass until he was a bloody, broken and bruised mess. That experience -getting torn apart by the Wrecking Crew while helpless- is what traumatized him.
the crew+hyde, and according to the t-bolts tiger shark as well....
the whole thing became semantics and a dream/memory (and with herc's state at the time and general reliability as a narrator, i simply favor the avengers scene as evidence of what happened) vs what seemed to happen in 'reality'. i thought and think it was silly he was afraid of the crew since all they did was beat him up after he was already down.
you're in a bad car crash. you crawl out and collapse, unable to move or defend yourself at all--all but out cold: helpless. then 5 kids come and beat you until you're unconscious/comatose. what did the significant damage to you? without the car crash the kids could never have done what they did so what did the real damage? what should you be 'afraid of'? or someone kidnaps you from behind, beats you up then binds you to a chair, so you are helpless. THEN 5 kids come out after you're bound and defenseless and beat you into a coma. again, who did the real damage to you? would you fear the kidnapper or the kids? seems to me the car crash and the kidnapper would be what i'd fear since it was the crash and kidnapper that MADE you helpless and unable to defend yourself. but maybe that's just me. semantics.
anyway, the whole thing is very minor and silly even for this forum. my thoughts were certainly never meant to raise such a ruckus..... only reason i persued it like i did was because i was bored and felt my boy was being disrespected. 🙂
