Dayyyum!!! Thor got a cheap shot like that on Supes and STILL got the breaks beat off of him?! 😱
Originally posted by ParmaniacYeah, he also spiked himself on a poisonous thorn in one of the recent Batman issues. It went right through his glove. So much for sensing the pressure at super-speed and avoiding it.
Before people kill each other here, Flash will get tagged lot's of times in the future like he did pre reboot, actually Darkseids attack already hit him too.
I don't know why the writers still make the mistake of putting stuff like this in. A guy who is that much faster than anyone he fights, and can sense even surprise attacks, bullets etc. coming and then avoid them at hyper-speed does not make for an interesting character in most situations. It just means the other writers have to just ignore it to make a fight interesting.
^ That would also require Flash to live in accelerated time. He's still a person. Can you imagine living in a world where everything is slower? Even by 5x? Much less 1,000,000x? Heck... constantly being accelerated at just 3x speed would make having a normal conversation unbearable. Example: Quicksilver's legendary temper/impatience is a direct result of having to cope with that side-effect because he only has so much control over his innate superspeed.
Even if you just limit his superspeed to kick in automatically every time his skin senses a pressure change unexpectedly, it'd be quite unbearable also. A swift breeze would kick that off.
Superspeed has two sides to it: accelerated body movement and accelerated perception. You can have one without the other or both at varying levels. And it seems people always expect Flash to have both turned on all the time at max levels or automatically only in comic fight situations. That doesn't seem realistic considering the toll it would actually take on him as a comic character.
