You need to watch the way you word shit, it gives a misinformed idea. This: "Thor and Strange combined to defeat him" =/= Thor and Strange beating the shit out of him.
The former suggests they had no choice but to combine resources to take him down out of necessity. When in reality, they took turns kicking his ass by the looks of it:

It was a typical Bendis team fight unfortunately, we don't even know what happened between panels. Why the bands disappeared? Did Strange lose his focus? Or maybe Ethan exerted himself too much and broke them?
He looks pretty worn out on the last page and I'd say Thor cheapshotted him 😛
^ And to this day I wonder what did Thing do off-pannel to that poor Anti-Venom lol

Don't misunderstand, I'm not saying Thor casually one shotted Ethan in a fair fight or anything.
But the way the description was phrased, it made it look like the two had no choice but to pull their resources to take down Ethan. When in actuality they had him on the ropes on -and probably off- panel at different points.
And as to why Ethan looks messed up and is getting up from a smoking crater? I think the idea is that Thor knocked his ass down (Whether or not it was when Strange had him trapped is in question) and then preceded to finish him off. The most logical explanation based on his proximity, the damage, and their respective power levels. But it's open to interpretation.
