There was this whole crossover between Thor and JiM called Everything Burns. The JiM issues were great, the Thor ones were less than great but still better than usual (Probably thanks to Gillen).
The seed for the crossover are planted in that Manchester Gods arc. You don't have to read it but the JiM issues are definitely worth checking out. Today is the final issue of JiM and next week is the final issue of Fraction's Thor.
To summarize the Surtur arc:
Spoiler:
- Surtur returns, he builds and empowers an army for the Manchester Gods that they use to rape all of Otherworld
- He uses the machines to collect energy and make himself stronger
- He builds a machine that he will channel his power into Otherworld, destroying it and using Otherworld as a Gateway, the rest of the Multiverse as well
- Loki and Thor stop him using the shadow of his Twilight Sword that he gave Loki earlier when he was released to destroy Dark Asgard
- Odin returns at the very end and channels/redirects/contains all of Surtur's unleashed power as he's destroyed
- Mephisto has the crown of the Serpent (Made from a portion of the Serpent's fear power) that he's going to use to rape all of the other Hell Lords
