So let me get this straight...people think it is somehow a low showing that a kryptonian dino is stronger than him? Wow. So I guess we are all a bunch of pussies for not being stronger than dinos huh? Also, since when does strength = durability? people are acting like because the thing was stronger than supes it also has to be more durable. 1. It is a different species than supes, why should it have exactly the same powers? Writers have even hinted that Kara and Supes's powers might work differently. 2. The thing was basically a zombie, so who knows how that might affect it?
Honestly, I don't see how this was inconsistent at all. People are acting like having a creature from Krypton show more strength than supes somehow makes supes's strength feats inconsistent. Come on guys. It seems like some people are just desperate to make this feat not count.
Originally posted by emporerpantsPersonally, I still think the feat is as valid as ever. I just think that since they were obviously trying to convey Superman's 'uberness', the dragon that was more powerful than him shouldn't have been owned by such meager forces.
Alright, let me re-phrase "It seems like some people are just desperate to make the feat seem more like a silly outlier that has no bearing on supes's combat potential than is warranted given what happened in the comic."
That's why I found the book a bit inconsistent. Just my opinion.
Originally posted by emporerpantsYou realize we can take your top logic and defeat your second point since dinosaurs are also more durable than us?

Also, just read Everything Burns. Pretty good read. Loki's a bastard.
Although the Goddesses being locked up bugged the shit out of me since they could have ended that pretty early.
I know what you are saying Galan, and I see where you are coming from. I just don't agree with it because strength does not equal durability and the dinos powers could very easily work different from supes, especially because writers have hinted in interviews i believe it was that even supes's and kara's powers might work differently. Also, the creature was dead and was having its cells break down already.
But, anway, we can agree to disagree. 🙂
Originally posted by emporerpantsAlso, the creature overpowered/contained Superman with just the tip of its tail. Does that mean the tip of this creature's tail exerted >>> planetary forces, or did Lobdell simply forget what he had Superman doing a few pages prior? Is planet-level+ strength now Superman's baseline? Gah, too many questions.

Anywho, I'm fine with agreeing to disagree. It's a lot easier in the long run. 👆
