On the other hand, if this is outside the realm of the purely psychological, it might be worthwhile to point out that Doctor Octopus himself has died before, killed many years ago by the villain Kaine.

He was brought back via Hand (the ninja group) ritual with the help of his colleagues and a remarkable, exceedingly advanced virtual reality program named "Stunner".

He came back then. Not really any super-compelling reasons even now to say he cannot do so any longer.

Bottom line, I'm not worried.

This is the Marvel Universe.

If the return is to be done, and, given Doc Ock's popularity AS Doc Ock, I can't imagine it isn't, the means exist.

Reading those scans a second time, I see that Banner's gizmo, which destroyed a mountain, was what knocked Hulk out, perhaps.

I wonder, are there any high heralds who have been shown recently to have punches sufficient to destroy mountains? Against a zombie Kryptonian dragon, perhaps?
