there was another comic where the Joker made superman think he had killed Lois didnt he? But Superman wouldnt kill him.

I dont think the Joker would allow him to kill him that easily. He would probably have kryptonite, meta human body gaurds, etc to protect him. But then again The Joker is more about chaos then anything. What we just saw is right up his ally.

It's the Heath Ledger version of the Joker that's about chaos.
Most other incarnations have a sense of self-preservation.

There was another comic where Joker made Superman think he had killed Lois. But it wasn't just Superman thinking that; Joker ultimately DID do so. Superman only thought Lois would survive at first because she managed to thwart the deadly gas attack Joker used to take out the rest of the Daily Planet by using a filtering mask stashed in her drawer.

Lois Lane, target of so many villains, is ALWAYS prepared for trouble, after all ...

There was an issue where Manchester Black made Superman believe he had killed Lois to try and push Superman over the edge. Superman, to his credit, kept his grief in check.

I think it's more how he killed her + his unborn super seed (not to mention Jimmy Olsen) that probably pushed him past his alternate universe breaking point. Also a big difference between thinking he killed her and...you know.. Graphically showing him a dead Lois lmao
How did this Joker kill Lois? Body looks pretty clean in the scans that were shown.

Spoiler:
he took her from the docks (where he shot Jimmy Olsen dead) and took her into a submarine. Long story short when superman found them the joker had filled the sub with fear gas and superman saw doomsday (really Lois).. He took doomsday into space and then realized he had just killed his wife and unborn child. So he tricked Clark into killing them.

It's strange, but, despite this event and others being the source of arguably the greatest character quote ever uttered by Superman, it doesn't come immediately to mind.

Perhaps I am more art-oriented than I realize, for the quality of Alex Ross's work makes it VERY easy to recall his Lois Lane death scene(s) indeed ...

The Justice Society Special I've highlighted was based off of Mark Waid's Kingdom Come. Superman by that time had developed great resistance, nearly complete immunity in fact, to the most common types of kryptonite. It was Lois Lane herself who convinced Superman not to kill the Joker in retaliation.

Ultimately in this story, it did not matter that Superman refrained from offing Joker. Somebody else did it soon after Joker's arrest.

I wonder to this day, though, given how closely the language fits that of the Dark Knight Returns, and especially the degree to which Alex Ross was trying to "blend" storylines into one another during this time ...
or at least "echo" them in reference ...
did Superman think the man that killed Joker was, indeed, Batman himself?

I'm thinking now of Wonder Woman v2 #219, final chapter of Greg Rucka's "Sacrifice" series, along with what I just posted.
I'm thinking now there's no originality among comic book writers even as I think to myself that I SHOULDN'T be thinking that, and that such would be an unfair charge ...

Haha seriously? I'm fine with him killing Joker then, even in cold blood.

That is some epic trolling though.

Tbh, at some point, it becomes the heroes fault when he doesn't kill the villain. Someone like Joker? It's worth sacrificing your own soul or whatever if it meant he wouldn't fill any more graveyards.

Martian Manhunter, I'm not sure [if he's killed before].

J'onnz has DEFINITELY killed before.

There's a far darker reason for his statement to Prime (contained in my actual KMC attachment at the end of this post) than a casual reader would suspect.

Here, a reminder from JLA v1 #s 85 and 86.

WARNING: the following is fairly graphic and disturbing; I'm using an outside image host for these non-IC6 selections so people can opt NOT to see what I'm posting if they're under 13 or easily upset:

It's too obvious that you're going to now bump every Starbrand VS IG thread and use Phil's scans to shit all over the IG side. Anything I missed?

I meant killed like Diana or Arthur would. Not in self defence or something.

So MM has never killed in self defense or to save lives?

Basically every green lantern has killed in the Sinester Corps War.

Not what I meant. I was asking if MM had ever killed in a capacity when it wasn't one of those times. When he could avoid killing someone, but did anyway.

I'm sure he'd kill in self defence or to save others.

I don't recall if any of the Earth lanterns killed during the war, but I know Hal, being a soldier, has no problems with taking a life if forced in to it. He was a pilot after all.

Ronan owns surfer

That didn't went the same way for surfer though when he suckershotted ronan

Ronan>Surfer.
