It happens, I remember during a JLA issue where Superman had to sit out fighting some gremlins or something because he was no more durable to magic then normal human beings. On the other hand, Superman's weakness wasn't even brought up in his fight with Thor in JLA/Avengers (IIRC to make it more interesting or something).

Shit like this, is heavily dependent on the writer and plot.

I'm just referring to Nu52 Supes. Preboot Supes has lot's of great showings involving magic. (including shrugging off magical lighting and enchanted weapons other than Thor's)

It's part of the reason Batman #20 stood out to me. I've been waiting for evidence of how DC plans to treat the magic weakness now.
