Chances are Billy will be the Hero at the end of the arc. He needs to prove himself to the DC universe.

Who else could it be though? They want to establish his cred, so what is the quickest way? Take down Supes. That seems to have been DC's thinking for awhile, and I'm just hoping that they don't start doing it again. Hope Billy is the hero of the arc, just not at the expense of Supes. It's about time young Mr. Batson got some damn respect.

There are ways to establish his rep without having him fight Superman. Good way to establish his cred would be to have him be the hero who can deal with pandora's box and saves the day where even Superman failed.

Lately they have been boosting this version of Superman up. I can't wait until Apollo and Superman have their first tussle. During the time Apollo was on earth, he was marked as the most powerful being on the planet. Since his time in space (Apollo), Superman has taken that credit. They need to fight it out.
