Yeah, and it would be nice if they kept boosting him up. After all, he is one of the only heroes with a specific weakness : k-nite. If they make him easy to take down it kind makes k-nite irrelevant. It's also hard to take lip service they give him all the time about being so damn powerful serious if he gets knocked out every other week.

It wouldn't even be without precedent.

In Underworld Unleashed, it was revealed that it was Billy's pure hearted soul that Neron wanted, not Superman. And in an issue of Adventures of Superman, when Cap and Superman basically fusion danced into a single body, Superman felt that Billy saved the day when he would not have.

To that end, yeah, Billy can be the "hero" without it making Superman look like shit, contrary to this belief that any success of Shazam/Captain Marvel lessens Superman.

Billy's stock has lessened greatly for me.

It's telling that it took years just to figure out WTF to do with Billy as far as DC is concerned. Trials of Shazam was a massive slap to the face to the Marvel Family. Things have only now just started to look good for Billy within the past year.

They don't seem to give a shit about him in more widely exposed mediums like video games or animation though.

It's funny, because prior to Injustice, in MK vs. DC, Captain Marvel was treated pretty fairly (and was straight up beastmode gameplay wise, imo). He also got a very flattering portrayal in Batman: Brave and the Bold and the Return of Black Adam.

Ultimately, I'm looking forward to Billy's development as a character instead of just being "magic Superman". I thought that him wanting to respectfully spread the ashes of Black Adam across Kahndaq, believing that "even bad guys deserve funerals", was a nice touch on getting back on track to Billy being an all around good kid.

Billy was getting decent portrayals in other mediums while he was nothing more than a mere boy with no powers after Shazam came back and threw a hissy fit and only Freddy was left with powers.

Now that Billy is back to being a superhero in comics after the reboot, he's being pissed on elsewhere.

I'm thinking that it's only a matter of time before he gets his own ongoing, which will probably be headed by Johns, at least for the first few issues.

Yeah, it seems Billy can't get an all around fair shake in all the media at any one time. Like others have said, I hope he gets his due during Trinity War.

If he's not the "pure heart" that closes the box, which I think won't happen as the end of Trinity War leads into the villains taking over for a time, he's probably going to get a phenomenal showing of character or power.

Tomorrow, Constantine drops and supposedly John wants the Power of Shazam for himself. Kinda curious to see how that turns out.

Heh, that sounds interesting. Is the Constantine book any good?
