Jake nearly called it spot on.

He was close, but I wouldn't say almost spot-on. The way He-Man was monologueing to himself in those red panels, it seemed that physically he was no match at all for Superman. Not to mention that, as far as the recent encounter goes, Superman losing this confrontation by getting impaled is contrary to his prediction that Supes would have barely won.

He included this little caveat that helped out as well...

If anything, Superman will barely win or hold an edge somewhat over He-Man (barring the mystical properties of his sword and whatnot).

The sword, at least as of now at least, appeared to be a game changer... However, it wouldn't surprise me if Giffen has Supes looking superior in a round 2 scenario.

The red panels didn't imply that at all, imo. They implied that Superman was extremely powerful, but not so powerful that He-Man stood no chance physically.

The guy tanked Superman going all out heat vision to the face. It can't get any clearer than that...Heman is a physical match imo.

Come on now guys, let's not go overboard here...It was clear that Superman had the clear physical advantage. If he didn't, He-man wouldn't have made a big deal about having to try and kill him with the sword, because he would have tried to take him out in a non-lethal way if he could, AKA physically.

I took it as He-Man recognizing that Superman was fighting in a bloodlusted/no holds barred mindset, and realizing that if he also didn't enter that same type of mindset, and stayed a pacifist, Superman would kill not only him, but everyone on his world... So he cognisantly decided to take-on that demeanor, and kill Superman as quickly as possible *enter said shankage*:

I'm fine if people want to assume that Superman was slightly more powerful from a physical standpoint-- but as of now I don't think there is anything to suggest that he was more powerful by leaps and bounds. /shrug

Oh, I agree. I think that Supes is clearly > He-man from a physical standpoint, but not by a huge margin. Enough for a solid but not one-sided win. IMO they were showing that Supes has the advantage unless He-man has his sword.

Cool beans. 👆

I'm sure if Superman smacks him down in the next issue, people will celebrate that too. Of course they would... Right?

Of course. And they'd never fall prey to something as silly as petty bias either.

If Superman wins after a decent fight, sure....if it's a one sided beatdown, then no.

The same Carver that said Black Adam was dominating Ultraman, your clarity is such an amazing thing.

I really hope they don't just knock He-man down, like this seems to be the first appearance the poor guy has had in eons and he's actually looking pretty awesome, like can't they just make him heal Supes or something and He-man just mention some BS about love and friendship and make Supes snap out of it, thus giving Superman some more cool feats of like breaking mind control instead of beating on poor prince Adam who's just recently getting his foot back in the door of comics xD.

Also, a bit random but all this Ultraman talk as of late makes me wonder how he'd fair against another Ultraman that happens to be a japanese hero 😛...Dunno why that hasn't been done in the AVF O.O

In my opinion he had the advantage. Ultraman hit him once whereas Adam was tossing and slamming him everywhere.

lolwut? Ultraman was kicking back content to soak up damage before firing back.

It'll probably take the JLA to beat him.
