Some tragic shit.

After Fear Itself Karnilla or something replaced all memories of Thor with memories of Taurus (Ulik posing as Thor)....it lasted about a year and it was terrible.

Wow, okay.
That really sounds weird...

I liked the Ulik the troll part, When it was happening Loki saw through the illusion.

Ha, hard to get one over on Loki. Nice!

I'd like to add that Superman was stated to have gone through multiple blackholes, besides the initial massive one. [so many in fact that the Doomsday infection was annihilated completely]

Considering he used Thor's super axe to cut the arm off it's not really that bad.

Jarnjborn is a normal axe against anybody other than Celestials. I mean Young Thor was fine after Apocalypse threw it so hard that it embedded in his chest. And Apoc was fine too when Thor cut into his celestial armor.

Just to mention about your 2nd point. He was fine the first time because it wasn't enchanted yet. If you remember Apoc is or was endowed with Celestial armour. Kang tricked Thor into enchanting it so he could kill Apocalypse.

No, he was still fine although the axe had cut him. Nothing like losing a limb or something.

Are you speaking of the first fight or the 2nd?

As it wasn't enchanted here.

And this is afterwards.

Then we have Apocalypse saying Thor "cheated" which refers to the enchantment.

Yeah, the second fight. Notice how Apocalypse isn't that much injured. Here Apoc throws the axe to Thor and Thor is just fine one page later.

Its just a very poor showing for Thor to get his arm chopped off like that.

Lol. Cut down almost to his torso but he's not that much injured.

Jarnjborn isn't a normal axe, Celestial Armor or not. 😬 And like with any other indestructible piece of cutting weaponry, with sufficient strength, it can slice and dice through almost anyone.

Some notable characters it's damaged in Aaron's run are Galactus and Gorr.

Getting cut, or even being dismembered, by the axe, isn't a low showing by any means, it should f*ck up anyone this side of Odin if say Thor is wielding it, but Malekith doing it is kind of sketchy in my book, at least with the effort shown.

Lol@ Thor throwing the axe

LMAO@Apocalypse being a crybaby

Only solution I can really offer is that as it was enchanted to kill Apocalypse who had Celestial armour it basically is like a Celestial form of Kryptonite. That's why when it wasn't enchanted it done nothing. But when it was it penetrated Celestial armour like a hot knife through butter.

That's the only way I can put it really, just a random explanation.

I have to say though he does look more than injured. I mean he just got killed.

But he is returning in AXIS so who knows.

The axe is enchanted to kill Celestials, so in a way, it is like their kryptonite. That is why it one-shot kills them.

Aside from that, the axe is an indestructible piece of weaponry and I really don't see how Thor can wield it daily. He should kill anyone he comes across with a clean hit so it has to be jobbed out sooner or later. Writers are just way too lazy to avoid him doing a critical blow all the time. If Hulk or Ulik are hit with Mjolnir, they'll live. With the axe, he'd decapitate them.

Yea, it's pretty crazy how that axe toss from Apocalypse only knocked Thor off his feet and barely broke skin. Thor had it enchanted into one of the most powerful weapons in the Marvel Universe (Kang even uses it to take over the Earth in the future), pretty nice durability feat that.

Also, despite what the narration said, Thor took tanked all the attacks like a champ. He left his encounter with Apocalypse without so much as a bruise.

Your own words, not mine.

And Thor has barely any cut here on his skin.

😬

Yeah, that's about right. Thor was attacking one of Apoc twins with it and it wasn't that effective.

You'd think an axe so sharp it cracks celestial armor would harm a young Thor more, right?

Apoc throwing that axe to Thor was after Thor enchanted the axe.

Sure I know, but I am saying if it's enchanted to kill Celestials it kills them. In the same way Kryptonite has been used to injure Supes.

But if say Supes picked the Kryptonite up and threw it full pelt at WW it might hurt her but it wont injure her in the same way as it does Superman.

As she isn't Kryptonian in the same way Thor isn't a Celestial or made of Celestial armour.

I don't get it, how does that change anything?

That was a crazy impressive showing for Thor's piercing durability, yes, we all know that. That however does not mean the axe cannot do damage to him.

Would I have preferred it didn't and he just went on to palm the thing? Well, obviously, but that's not very realistic seeing as how it's cut through everyone from Gorr to Apocalypse to damaging Galactus.
