It's not like he has to think to have control of his body. It means his molecules can't be tampered with. Otherwise he would be easy work for Surfer, but that isn't the case.

Thanos' built in resistance to matter-manipulation is insane. Hell, he just willed through all sorts of reality/matter manipulation in Infinity Quest.
