Character Ownage

Not only would it not be new or interesting (how many years now has marvel given us of edgy, off kilter versions of our favorite heroes again?) Enchantress as a character doesn't line up at all with the She Thor personality we've been seeing. Unless they changed her character, defeating the purpose altogether.

Not at all. Obviously, the Enchantress would have changed if she did lift the hammer to become the character we see in the comic. In which case she wouldn't be "edgy". There is also lots of potential in a redemption arc and how Thor and Co would react to her being Worthy.

Instead, we got a story where the love interest became a female version of the hero. Lame.

Been saying this for nearly a year. That's from July 2014.
Good prediction. I thought for sure it would be Roz partially possessed by the time-displaced spirit of Frigg (Thor's granddaughter who wields Stormbreaker). That would explain the speech patterns and worthiness.

And then there would be a sweet twist at the end where Frigg's spirit is forcibly exorcised from Roz and they lose Mjolnir and are transformed back and in their most dire moment Roz has to try on her own to lift the hammer, without Frigg inside her, and does anyway showing she was worthy the entire time.

To be honest I dont want anyone coming in and crapping on the mythos of Thor again. Something like Enchantress being worthy wouldn't seem right. Especially seeing as how she was the same ol enchantress not too long ago in axis iirc

It just all seemed to come into place. I felt Aaron wasn't going to bestow that honor to a new character. My guts told me he was going to choose someone who has already been an established part of the Thor mythos, but not really at the forefront of heroics.. Roz being new in the Thor mythos was the perfect vessel for misdirection. Her being a hero of sorts and the new love interest etc.. Plus Aaron's reintroduction of Jane into the stories with a significant change(her being terminally ill) all the more made me choose her from all the other female candidates. And then we have her spouting humanly monologues made the choice a litter easier, essentially cutting off a majority of the immortal candidates.

Does anyone know why the Whor enchantment would be killing Jane?

Probably that hammer is not fitting in her pussy.

No better ideas atm.

Well she has terminal cancer so I'd assume "superheroing" is just putting too much strain on her.

Maybe Asgardian magic is interfering with her cancer treatments, ala Mar-Vell. Although I'm still holding out hope that Frigg's spirit is inside her and that is what's taking its physical and spiritual toll on her as she tries to beat cancer.

Hmm. Seems like a magical enchantment that transforms you into a nigh-invulnerable God might cure a petty mortal disease. /shrug

What a stupid f*cking reveal, though. 👇

So Jane has no problem using the hammer but she heavily objects to Thor treating her cancer with Asgardian hoodoo?

Dumb hypocrite

Ironically, she refused a magical cure for her cancer because she was afraid of the cost or something like that.

Edit: ninjaed...

Don Blake was lame for all his life. I don't recall Masterson or Olson ever receiving healing benefits. And if they did, my guess is Mjolnir restores you exactly as it first finds you. Which could mean that whatever normal treatment she's putting herself through like chemo and radiation keeps getting its progress reset everytime she wields Mjolnir.

Aaron hasn't disappointed me yet. So I'll wait until he's done telling Jane's story. Hope Roz stays in the book though.

^ Yeah, I remember her refusing Thor's help. I'm just talking about the enchantment itself... Seems like it should automatically keep its user as healthy as possible, given the uber magics at play. Meh.

Thanks, ODG. 👆

I hope Roz stays active as well. Really like her. 👆 x2

There must always be a Thor.

That doesn't necessarily mean there must always be a Jane Foster.

She does what she can, until she passes and can do no more. I suspect her quiet dignity in accepting her mortality is a large part of what's made her worthy. She doesn't do this for herself, she does it for others.

Actually being Thor cured Don Blake of his leg injury as told in Thor 479.

Most writers seem to forget it though.

Nah.. That was a mortal shell Thor subconsciously created. It wasn't the real Blake. Or something like that..

I'll take it.

It was a retcon for Don Blake's origin that Odin created him as a mortal shell for Thor as he was informed that Thor would die in Ragnarok. That was real Don Blake.
