The Red Hulk vs Thor reminds me of Rocky 3 when Clubber Lang destroys Rocky, and his faith in his ability to ever become the Champion again. I would imagine that the same feeling must be rattling through Thors mind about this bitter defeat.

You're contradicting yourself, it's precisely Loeb's writing that has made Rulk more powerful than WWH. WWH would not have punked a Thor level character like this, he didn't have the ability (or more precisely was not written to have the ability to punk a Thor level opponent like this). If Thor fought WWH it would be much more evenly matched with Thor's hammer inflicting plenty damage.
