Normally, that cliffhanger would mean something.
But Bendis does stuff like:
- Clint being affected by the Power Drainer; entire scene of Mockingbird being confused about it and wondering why it's working on him... it never gets explained. Not in the same arc, book or even its sequel.
- Ultimate Parker developing his powers and suddenly feeling pain in his wrists - openings for organic webbing, maybe? It's the only mention of it.
Bendis works like this: "lol, this'll look cool, maybe I'll do something with it later", then he immediately forgets what he wrote and moves on.
