His origin starts in Justice League #2.

Not since they started pulling that 90s-esque bullshit of changing his costume and his characterisation every five minutes. Not to mention giving him mjolnir-lite with his trident. That's about when I stopped reading, so i'm a bit behind.

U dont like his trident with an upgrade?

I didnt know that...im woefully behind on some DC books.

We all make good choices occasionally.

There is no contribution other than token minority. Even Simon and Jessica have done more than him.

I've been saying this for years and used to be met with "nuh uh. I luv Cyborg. Booyah! Remember that?!"

In context, I don't like it. I don't like that they upgraded the trident when they could have shown more of his actual ingrained superpowers, like his telepathy. His trident should be a supplement to his abilities, not a replacement.

They need to somehow make him relevant - and a sharp stick doesn't work when Diana has a sword and shield. Physical strength doesn't work when Superman/WW are there. Telepathy doesn't work, when J'onn is on the team [in that regard, Arthur is the luckiest J'onn is gone - which makes it even more baffling that his telepathy is almost gone in the team-settings, now].

In that regard, even Cyborg has a function - team communcation and transportation. He's basically a tool, not a character, but still. Arthur doesn't have that niche, imo, unless the stories are specifically targeted towards Atlantis/royalty.

They could have easily made him the team telepath without J'onn being there, but I have a suspicion that Johns doesn't like, or doesn't want, Arthur to have non-marine telepathy. At least, not to the extent he had it before the reboot.

He did a good job with his physical stats and showings, but it's a stark departure from what came before.

I feel that Johns made Aquaman stand very well on his own, but not in a team setting, funnily enough. He 'streamlined him' to get rid of the jokes and such, but it made him more...rigid.

I think that they should push him in other way other than 'strong man' [which is the problem I have with Diana, too]. Telepathy is a must [especially since it's now in short supply], maybe some body-telekinesis [i.e. how he did in Grant Morrison's JLA to induce seizure - play up on that], and I'd also like him to have a literal army that he can call at his behest. Justice League stories are large scale, so him calling thousands of Atlanteans to shitstomp an alien invasion would be cool [Bryan Hitch's recent Justice League did something similar, but it was too crowded to stand out].

I agree. If you're going to make him a king, then make him an actual king. I'd even be okay if they brought back the water hand... I just don't want him to end up as a "caster" type character in combat. I actually like him getting in to brawls, but if he's a one-note character, then it kind of falls flat.

If they really want to be clever, they could make him control all animals, and play up the Darwinian 'history of how the Earth species evolved out of the ocean' part. Just make his control less refined for land ones, compared to the ocean, and it's good to go.

So batman is capable of stealing the speed force...😖hifty:

If it were me i'd have him control them all as easily, but either way it's not a bad idea.

He's a good example, yeah.

No, it really isn't. There's so little respect for the lore anymore.

Mine.

And yes homo.

That image was From Secret Wars 2 or whatever iirc.

It was. They had the beyonder on many covers during that event but never actually appeared
