He was weakened before he faced the kids? If that's the case, it clears this showing up. By any chance, do you have a scan of this being mentioned?
Yes, the weaponers did attack him but you have to remember this as well, Sinestro went there injured and then he fought and withstood this version of Superman attacks before blasting Superman. Again, if something was mentioned of him being weakened during this instance, it takes away from everything I mentioned.
