I always assumed that his rifles were special (Even though specific mention was given) just by virtue of the symbolism they represented in that moment, especially as seen during Secret Wars II when Odin/Frigga used weapons because of their powerful symbolism. Never said anything as most would assume it's silly, nice to see confirmation.
