He was still a novice regarding his powers back then. Also in that issue the first few pages deal with the Shiar Captain talking to one of the Council Members.
The Shiar Captain tells the Council member that Vulcan was not prepared for what he was up against when he took on the Imperial Guard. This is because the Shiar Captain pretty much lied to him when Vulcan asked to be briefed on the Imperial Guard members.

I'm not really sure, if he can figure out Gladiators Radiation weakness I'd say why not. When they first encountered each other Vulcan annihilated the Imperial Guard even though he was given false information on them. Gladiator had to take him down.
On KMC though I don't think Vulcan has the combat speed feats to hang with Gladiator. But then again if he can hang with Blackbolt then why not Gladiator? Also this is the first time I've ever seen Vulcan exhibit this kind of durability. I was shocked by him taking BB's punches, him rebuilding himself from energy was another wtfmoment. We also know they both survived BB's scream at the end so...
I also suppose he did survive being burnt by Sundipped Havok twice...meh.

You were shocked that Vulcan could take Black Bolt's punches? He doesn't hit particularly hard, considering the league that these guys are in.

Blackbolt could hang with the Hulk (For a while) and Gladiator and Thor though. Plus he was in a life or death situation and the bomb threatened to be set of early by Vulcan, it'd be silly not amp his strength up passed Class 100.
I was under the impression that Vulcan without Darwin had the strength and durability of well...someone like Magneto.
Looks like Vulcan, can take BB punches, Can over power BB (i mean he was choking him out by the end), and rebuild himself from a point black scream. I mean that is a serious upgrade imo.
His rebuilding trick... is he converting energy t living tissue? If thats true like holy damn that is a nifty trick.
