Actually, it was Gladiator who was outnumbered (he also has Moondragon there).

Guardians didn't have a way to deal with the combined might of Ghost Rider and Gladiator. They had Bill do most of the heavy lifting and fend off Glads. While Ghost Rider was tearing through anyone he encountered.
