sad thing about this is that ever since the first I read of sinister is that he looks "fabulous" never really knowing how powerful he was,

But yeah, I'm not a fan of this. I much preferred when he was written as the ominous schemer and a team-wrecker, second only to Apocalypse in raw power and versatility.

I enjoyed the issue. All-Star Superman vibes.

Jon doesn't seem to go past the event horizon (The danger zone).

That's why the planet survives (It would be crushed) and why Wonder Woman was able to do the same thing later in the issue.

Locally, nothing special happens at the event horizon. If the black hole was big enough, a planet could survive the tidal forces acting near the horizon and thus cross the horizon intact -- the Roche limit for an object approaching a black hole does not have to be outside or at the horizon. On the other hand, if the black hole was small its tidal forces would destroy the planet already long before the horizon.
