Old movies were essentially more like fan fics. Very little oversight, no real requirements towards demographic pandering, just a film maker and their vision.
I kind of like the older comics in the sense that there's no pretense behind them. No bosses behind the scenes meddling, no disgruntled creatives who hate their own audience.
Just their imaginations and the medium.

Old school comics really were something. Mr Fantastic was faster than the Human Torch, Cap is faster and more agile than Executioner, steel handcuffs were enough for Mr Hyde, Mole Man had a radar sense, Reed had quite a bit of superstrength..And all they needed was the Hulk.
You have a problem with anything of those listed?
Mole Man's radar sense is well documented.
Hyde is a jobber supreme. Seriously.
Being faster than HT is a non-feat and Reed can bulk up if he wishes to (but he often forgets any ability that is useful for combat).
Cap's speed and agility are underestimated because of SSS limits - coupled with his skill and experience, they are without equal.

I wonder if the times overall were that naive, because really old movies also have a weird tone of simplicity/naivity to them.
Says the guy who only enjoys comics with Carnage travelling through the Internet. Literally.
Let's face it, this is a very corny and unrealistic medium in general.
Changes with time, but never really matures or makes sense, that's why we love it.

Except Iron Fist, he just keeps getting nerfed.
Iron Fist was getting out of hand with power creep. He needed to be nerfed.

What's funny is that QS legs are back next page when he's in a bed. I mean look at the last page, they're ashes, literally.
