if he was running around with Eradicator's powers + Henshaws + his own it would be hell. It already is hell to fight him but yeah...I prefer him being his usual old self with the other powers as backup if things get out of hand.

I have to give big ups to Conner. He took a serious beatdown and he kept fighting. Clark would be proud. And it does seem that DD finally decided to pick up flight as a permanent upgrade. Too soon to say how his adaptibility works.
In fact....judging by something Conner said, about how DD was using tactics and keeping him at a distance......what if he didn't use the other powers because he knew he didn't need them? What if he's sentient again? shock

you could be right. Or some one smart is pulling DD's strings. DD is acting different just fighting the same (unrelenting monster. This reminds me of what DD is, a absolute beast.)

People have mentioned it, but iirc, it wasn't stated that he got the power from Steel. Or was it? Steel flies due to the suit. He doesn't technically "have" powers.

iirc doomsday doesn't retain abilities, he gains them by fighting someone and they seem to be a notch more powerful than the original's.
not sure if his fights across the titles are linear, beating on superboy would mean he was packing the additional power-sets of steel, eradicator, and borg just coming into the fight.
