Anyway, I'm not eager to see more of Jackman.

Jackman said himself that he'd have a bigger role in this one. Plus, with it being DOFP, it would be kind of stupid not to.

Then again, they did the Phoenix in X3, and we all know where Cyclops was for that...

Lol, talk about a mismatch.

Either some crazy prep scenarios from Cable are going to come into play or some massive PIS.

That would be f'in funny is Colossus slapped Thor around.

Wait what? I thought Colossus lost his Juggernaut powers. Not that he could solo with them either way. But that isn't the place for this discussion.

😂

Hrm.

I think it's odd most people tend to want to see Colossus be stronger/durable whenever he's shown on panel. They believe that'll make him into a better character, but I'm on a different wavelength. I'm more interested in Piotr and the guy that he was created to be. While he's not a genius like Kitty or Hank...he certainly thinks deeper than the rest of the crew. We don't get to see that inner monologue anymore. Actually...we did with Brian Wood's limited Colossus run last year (Pick it up if you haven't seen it). He wrote Piotr with an actual brain and true remorse for the proto mutants he found. The confrontation with Storm actually had a weight to it as well.

Honestly, I think the reason he's difficult to write is that most current writers at Marvel simply aren't like Piotr at all. They can identify with a wolverine/cyclops better as they're more logical. Piotr isn't. So he suffers as a result.

First post/whatnot, but I felt compelled to create an account after seeing this thread.

I agree about Colossus; there's a sensibility to the character that a lot o writers simply don't understand.

I'd argue that they don't understand Cyclops much better, though.

Piotr does deserve someone like Whedon or even Gillen to come back and give him a run again, imo.

Part of me hoped that Wood would add him to his X-men cast, but he went with his tampon brigade instead. I enjoyed his version of Piotr more than Gillen. While the revelation of Uncanny #18 was fantastic it was more about 'Oh, look, Petey got screwed again for doing the right thing.'

Perhaps you're right on Cyclops. I've not read him in the new Uncanny relaunch as I dislike Bendis. He's shifting to an idealist more and more over the past couple years.

you and me both re: bendis. it's not the trainwreck it could have been, but it's still bad.

I like Gillen in general, though I think editorial pushed him in to that stupid juggernaut thing.

Yep, I didn't mind the Juggernaut thing all that much. It was a new aspect to Piotr that showed he had more restraint that most other X-men. The only problem with the entire thing? There were two things; They rebooted the best selling X-men book and took it away from Gillen. Plus half of the issues dealt with AvX. -Grumbles.- It was a miracle Gillen tied it up the way he did. The split with Kitty always bothered me as well. She was essentially telling Piotr that she was fine if San Francisco was wiped off the map and left him as a result. Bad look for Kitty imo.

I'm glad he's in this book as Hopeless seems genuinely into the character. Which all I can ask of a writer when it comes to dealing with my favorite X-man. I only hope he still remains in the comic instead of rotting in prison.

I think Kitty was written poorly in that issue It was more the fact that she loved Piotr for being so self sacrificing, but she couldn't be with him if he was, because it's hard to fully love a person who might off themself the next day to save the world without a second thought. It's hypocritical and selfish, but so are people.

That's my take on it.

And the cover art of the new Cable/X-Force issue has Cable's crew matched up against Havok's, so it's a pretty good chance he gets out for some reason.

Anyone catch the latest issue released today? I dig the potential of Colossus and Domino together. They work well off one another.

I love their dynamic. I wish he'd stop being so hard on himself and just let her like him.

Colossus and Domino? That might be interesting. The nice guy and the bad girl mixing it up.

Yeah. And she's really pining after him at the moment in Cable/X-Force.

Yep, there's a physical attraction already established and she seems to be drawing him out of his shell more than anyone else has over the past few years. Plus, there's a cliffhanger at the end of the book that seems to suggest Petey will break out of jail to save her.

Sweet.

Petey needs a bit of rough, after Kitty left him high and dry.

She banged his brains out in an earlier issue, and while at first she insisted it was just to get both their jollies, she's been showing genuine care for him, especially since he turned himself in.

And in the most recent issue, the alien X-Force was trying to jailbreak has taken the entire team aside from Cable(who was with Cyclops at the time), and Colossus. So he's got Forge, Nemesis, Boom-Boom, and Domino. And the guy is creepy, like he's serial murderer/rapist creepy. So it's likely Cable and Colossus will go get them back.

What issue did they reconnect in?
